Matt Home

Matt has played in many bands including the Nigel Price Organ Trio, Matt Wates sextet and Brandon Allen’s quartet. He also appears regularly at Ronnie Scott’s as part of the house band and at the venue's Late Show . The Nigel Price Organ Trio won best jazz ensemble in the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.Gareth Lockrane’s septet album “No Messin†(on which he played) also won best jazz album of 2010. Other recording work includes selected tracks from Stacey Kent’s latest CD The Changing Lights†Matt’s  drumming influences are many but include: Jo Jones, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Art Taylor, Roy Haynes, Philly Joe Jones, Albert “tootie†Heath, Billy Higgins, Mel Lewis, Jimmy Cobb to name a few. Of today’s modern drummers he likes Joe Farnsworth, Lewis Nash, Kenny Washington, Willie Jones iii, Rodney Green, Gregory Hutchinson and Bill Stewart.
