Peter Wraight

A significant part of Peter's work has been in association with Matthew Herbert, as arranger and performer on various albums including “Bodily Functions”, “Scale”, “Plat du Jour”. Pete was also arranger and musical director of Matthew Herbert's three big band albums and several full orchestral film scores. The subsequent worldwide tours have included venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, Sidney Opera House, the Barbican and Festival Hall in London and and more locally, Derby Assembly Rooms for Derby Jazz.

Back around 1980 Pete was a founder member of the Derby Youth Jazz orchestra, along with Dave O'Higgins and Andrew Stanton and a member of Dave's first quintet, early 1982.

His first writing commission came from Derby Jazz / EM Arts 1995.

Since then he's performed and recorded extensively both as a trumpet player and as musical director.

Additional recordings, compositions, arrangements  and performances include a the “Two Minds Big Band” with Dave O'Higgins, “Sea of Brass” with British Sea Power, and “No Lucky Days”, a big band album produced by house music guru Charles Webster.
