TROPE

This Birmingham-based five-piece is fronted by charismatic singer Cherise Adams Burnett, with Andy Bunting, the chief composer, on piano and keyboards. They started out life reworking and pulling around the music of Stevie Wonder, playing their debut at Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival before the mighty Nile Rodgers & Chic. 2015 saw TROPE recorded their first EP ‘Butterflies & Dragons’. A heady mix of Soul, Jazz and Hip Hop saw comparisons made to the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, Brotherly and Heritage Orchestra. They have been featured on BBC Introducing, made the Bandcamp New & Notable Records section and were recently nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ alongside The Internet, Dayme Arocena and Kamasi Washington at the 2016 JAJ Awards in Japan. TROPE are currently preparing a mini album for release so get ready for some fresh, new sounds coming your way very soon!
