Hexagonal

After forming as a group in 2016 to play the music of the late, great, South African musician, Bheki Mseleku hexagonal have performed at prominent festivals around the UK, including Jazz Hastings and Herts Jazz, as well as headlining at Scarborough Jazz. More recently they have added the music of the iconic pianist McCoy Tyner to their repertoire, creating a broad palette of material as a backdrop for some world class playing.

Line-up: Graeme Flowers (trumpet) Jason Yarde (alto) Greg Heath (tenor) John Donaldson (piano) Simon Thorpe (bass) Winston Clifford (drums)

“The band is impressively hip…with a variety of rich melodies, vibrant harmonies and infectious grooves… The optimism of the music shines through like a shaft of sunlight on a winter’s day.” – London Jazz News
